If you guys could help my narrow down my issue, that would be great. Even 5MBs would make me happy right now. I have read steam will limit download speeds when there is a lot of traffic, but I have not experienced such a limiting till now if that is the case, and have tried to switch download regions to circumnavigate this, no luck.
Any Ideas. Showing 1 - 6 of 6 comments. How many different download regions did you try? Did you try some very far away from you, as in as far away as possbile? Are you using a wireless connection or any wireless hardware in the connection?
This is a home network that you have full control over, correct? I tried about 5 of them, the best is closeby and giving me a constant 2MBs from Dallas. I was using a wireless connection earlier today, and bought a cable earlier and plugged it in thinking it would fix the issue, the cable is 1GBGB Capable Flat Cord, wasn't cheap. I am not sure what to make of a home network I have full control over.
I am permitted and able to administer and change things if I know what to do, it is however my grandmother's router lol, working with a temporary lodging kinda situation. Try more regions. Sometimes, even trying ones very far away may seem like it won't work, and against the support page even, but makes sense, as those in that time zone may not be loading up that server right now, considering you are in a much different time zone than they are.
You may need to test several regions other than your own. There are tons of posts all over message boards about the problem you are having with no real answers. The closest I could come to someone finding an answer was a post on playstation. Also, for whatever reason most everything I read online regarding speed issues with PSN said that if you are downloading games and updates; they will download faster with the console in rest mode than if you are actively using the console.
This doesn't surprise me because back in the PS3 days if you were downloading something from the PSN and did anything else on the console that used any bandwidth whatsoever, the download would pause until you were done using the network. Replies 2. Everything he just said.
Your psn speeds will be slower than most of your devices. Replies 0. You guys do know the port isnt a 1GB port? Edt: quote: With that being said, try going into your netowrk config on your console and change your DNS servers to 8.
This is bull shite. DNS might improve response time, but not throughput. Replies 3. Yeah ps4 max speed I think is 40mbps. I have both and xbone can and will go higher.. I have preferred cox 60mbps and the box will pull those speeds.
Member since Jul posts. Is this something I should do, though? Never will you get max because you share the tower with other families. In the unlikely event you are the only user on, you would then see speeds closer to max. I had 3mbps net and that was the case. Peak hours sucked, my advice, upgrade the internet, but that doesn't sound like an option where you live. JoHnEyAp posted Assuming my isp isn't having problems.
I have begged my isp to upgrade my speed, and while they are in the process of expanding their fiber optic network, I live in the middle of no where in a town that MIGHT have people, I am on the very edge of their service area, it could be three years or more before they run it near my house.
As for peak hours, I don't believe such a thing exists in my area, many people in this small town do not own a computer. User Info: MetalZoic. It was the same way with the PS3.
On the X1 test or a speedtest. On the PS4 it shows a measly down and only up. User Info: jbecerril. Fanboys defending the PS4 will defend it regardless. The fact is very simple, Sony servers are decent, Microsoft servers are great. Gaming online i don't think is such a problem, downloading big files thats when Xbox shines. Sorry Sony, but hopefully Gaikai solves those issues. MetalZoic posted Sadly the connection test pings the PSN servers and not a typical hub like with speakeasy.
